My story
Kia ora, I'm Rosie Joy Sievers! I believe that each of us is our own greatest teacher, which makes me a forever-student of my own Whole Body. I’m a movement explorer, facilitator, thrift store bargain hunter, creative, flower picker, belly laugher, a lover, a daughter, a sis, an aunty, and I like to think I’m a pretty good cook.
I grew up in Kerikeri in the far north, on the lands of Ngāpuhi, and spent many years living in Pōneke/Wellington before putting down roots here in Greytown, in the heart of the Wairarapa. My tūpuna traveled to Aotearoa from Ireland, Scotland, Prussia, Norway and England, I am Pākehā, and both my whakapapa and the places I've lived and been held by have shaped who I am, in my body and in my work.
I began the process of healing my own relationship with my body back in 2010, when a friend invited me along to a yoga class. I entered that class feeling nervous, and I left able to breathe for the first time in a long time. I felt taller. Yoga was my introduction to moving with intention, and through it, I started to realise that there is a whole ecosystem alive under my skin! Since then I have developed a fascination with the landscape within me, exploring different forms of movement, learning about the different systems of my body, how they communicate and their relationship to the whole of me.
My work draws from my own rich life experience as well as studying and teaching yoga in New Zealand & India, trauma-informed practice, meditation, a deep interest in embryology and my training in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy.
About The Whole Body
I created The Whole Body in 2023 as space where you can find all of my offerings. With The Whole body offerings, I’m interested in supporting people to release the imprints of stress, tension and trauma from their bodies. To access more of their internal felt sense, feelings of health, aliveness, creativity, joy, love and an expanded capacity to move through challenges. I’m interested in the story your body wants to tell. I’m interested in moving at your pace, honoring your identity and experience, and supporting you to feel at home in your skin.
My work considers the intelligence of your Nervous System, your autonomy, and the inherent health and wisdom that your body holds. These values are always present, whether you are joining me for a retreat, working with me as I use the gentle intelligent touch of craniosacral therapy, or I’m guiding you in a yoga/movement session.
I believe that healing is anchored both in the body & in the support of relationship with others. I am passionate about seeing, hearing and working with people in a 1-1 relationship, as well as hosting group spaces where people can come together to grow and support one another.
There are many different ways we can work together! Let’s chat about what your body needs.
