Massage Therapy
My approach to Massage
I came to massage through years of working with the body, and a deep interest in how we live in our skin.
In a session with me, you won't get a fixed sequence. You'll have my full attention. I work from what I feel under my hands, from tracking the places that are guarding, to the tissue that's ready to let go, and feeling in to the rhythm of your nervous system. I have a strong anatomical understanding, but it's my ability to listen and respond to what’s alive in your body in the moment that sets this work apart.
Some sessions are slow and relaxing, while others involve working into deeper tissue. Often we will work with both.
FAQ’s
What if I've never had a massage before?
You're very welcome. We'll have a chat at the start about how you're feeling and what you're hoping for. There's no expectation that you'll know what you need, figuring that out together is part of the process.
What's the difference between this and a traditional spa massage?
While traditional massage often focuses on relaxation, my approach often weaves in somatic exploration and an understanding of how the emotional and physical are connected. This work can be deeply therapeutic.
Do I need to undress?
You'll keep underwear on and be draped throughout the session, only the area being worked on is uncovered. You're always in control of your comfort level, and I'll check in as we go.
How is this different from your craniosacral therapy?
Craniosacral therapy uses a very light touch to work with the nervous system and the body's subtle rhythms. Massage works more directly with muscle and soft tissue. Both are trauma-informed and both start with the same question, What does your body need today? Some clients work with me across both modalities.
Do I need a specific complaint or injury to book?
Not at all. Wanting to feel better is reason enough.
